I have just had a letter telling me that they are going to change my prescription for needles again. It will be along time before I need another box, but just wondered what people's experience of BD Viva needles is compared to the Microfine?

According to BD

Thin Wall pen needle for improved comfort. 1
BD – patented lubrication

1 Hirsch L, et al. The impact of a modified needle tip geometry on penetration force as well as acceptability, preference and perceived pain in subjects with diabetes. J Diab Sci Tech 2012.

No idea how the geometry of the needle tip is different or who or where the subjects with diabetes gave their opinions LOL

So the same lubrication as the Microfine then - which isn't fine at all for me - it damn well causes all BD needles to HURT me ! Stings like hell.

I'd like to see a diagram to see how it differs from the usual ones they use to show what happens when they are used more than once, wouldn't you?

Just try em and see - if you don't like them - then get em changed. Start using the new box while you still have some of the Microfine, just in case?
