Hi everyone. I’m Dave and been type one for 31 years. I Only know two fellow diabetics so it would be great to get to know more people.
my journey has been mixed, to say the least, I am well on track now with a good hb1c but unfortunately, it hasn’t always been this way. Currently have some eye issues and I’ve had 3 laser treatments.
looking forward to meeting everyone

Welcome to the forum. Lots of great people on here and I’m sure newbies like me (aged 56 and only diagnosed 2 months ago) will be able to learn a lot from you. Best wishes.

Welcome to the forum @T1Dave

Glad to have you hear. And well done for getting your diabetes on-track. Not an easy thing to do, but always worthwhile. We can’t change the past, but can learn from it, and making positive changes in diabetes management is never ‘too late’. There are always benefits to be had.

Hope the laser treatments have helped, and your improved glucose levels slow any progress of changes in your eyes 🙂

We’ve a few forum member who have also had the benefit of laser surgery that you can exchange experiences with.

Hi and welcome @T1Dave glad you’ve joined us. Wall to wall diabetes here! Loads of great people to meet

Glad to hear things are settling for you. Tech has improved so much over the years. What tech are you using at present? Libre, Dexcom, MDI, pump?

I’ve had a lot of laser treatment over the years. I hope the treatment is slowing down the problems you’re having.

I’ve got to have more photos soon so will find out then if it’s worked this time. I currently use the Libre 2, it’s definitely made a big difference

Morning Dave a warm welcome to you, I'm sure you will find what your looking for here.

Hi and welcome from me too.

Good to have your years of experience living with diabetes added to the forum. I am just 4.5 years down the line but the forum has been the mainstay of my knowledge and practical support as well as emotional support. It is a great place to be, so I am pleased you have found us.
How are you getting on with Libre? Are you aware of it's limitations? Things like compression lows which are false lows that can occur through the night if you lie on the sensor. And the lag when your BG levels are changing direction etc.
Are you on multiple daily injections or a pump to administer your insulin and which insulin(s) do you use?
Are there any particular difficulties that you experience with your diabetes management?
Hope your new photos show that the laser treatment has worked well.
Look forward to reading more about you.

Hello @Flower1,
Welcome to the forum. We don't seem to have heard from @T1Dave very much, so don't be too surprised if you don't hear from him straightaway or even at all.

May I ask how long you've been T1 and in general how you are doing with your management of that? I regret that I can't tell you anything about eye laser treatment, other than a close relation had some treatment a while ago and her observation was that it was surprisingly unremarkable, with only minor issues afterwards. It all went well apparently. I seem to recall she just needed a little help in putting in drops for a few days.

Good morning thanks for the reply, I’ve been type 1 for 46 yrs on insulin. I’m just waiting for laser for retinopathy. Just liked to know other members who have had treatment. Just getting used to using the forum. Thanks
