Hi there, new to the forum but not diabetes. I was first diagnosed 5 years ago with Type 2 and up until this year I had been managing with medication ok. I gave up smoking changed my diet felt I was in control.
Now after a period of suddenly having no energy and drinking vasts amounts of water ( my son said it was like living in the house with the girl from the film signs....glasses of water everywhere!) I went for blood tests. Poor kidney function, more blood tests and a scan of kidneys.
I don't know how concerned I should be as this was never something I had even thought about. I'm pretty active did 100km walk last year for charity and really felt like I was on top of things.
Now I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me. I'm fed up hearing that I don't look "typically diabetic" I really don't know what that means or that " I am doing all the right things" ( clearly not)
I'm not just here to complain I know we are all going through our own battles. I'm looking for a way to fight this positively because if you look online its all doom and gloom . Has anyone else been through this who can give me some insight and a way to tackle this mentally, via diet and what questions to ask when I sit down with my doctor after all these tests ?
Thanks in advance .
