Welcome to the forum, there are several people who are here to learn more so they can support a partner. One place to start is looking at the section in the Learning Zone (orange tab at the top) for Type 1.
You do have to be mindful about how much input from you he actually wants as often people are very protective about how they manage their condition.
It can be a good idea to ask him if there is anything you should know about certain situations. i.e. if he has a hypo or feels unwell.
Do come back with any specific questions but knowing what insulins and if he has a Libre sensor will help people tailor their suggestions. That is of course if you know.
If he has been diagnosed a long time them he probably just gets on with it.

Really lovely of your to want to support your new partner.

Sorry to hear he is living with some diabetes complications.

You might find this ‘etiquette card’ a useful guide for having positive and open conversations around diabetes - especially when it is up to its frustrating tricks!

For more detailed information on how type 1 behaves (and doesn’t!) two frequently recommended books are

Think Like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner

and

Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas (don’t worry about the title - this book is relevant to people of all ages!)

And keep firing away with questions too 🙂

Welcome @Kriis7979 🙂 A good starting place is asking him what support he’d find useful. Just understanding a little is a great support so I second the book recommendations above.

You mention he has complications. Depending on what those are, there might be ways you can support him. Again, ask, but ask carefully (see etiquette link above!).

Welcome to the forum @Kriis7979

It is great that you are keen to help your new partner, by developing a greater understanding of the condition. The books that @everydayupsanddowns recommended are a good starting point, as well as the learning zone (a tab at the top of the page or in your menu)

Do ask any questions that you have on here. There is a wealth of experience to tap into and no questions are considered silly. Just ask.
