Hi guys,

I have a foot exam coming up in a few weeks. I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic after going into DKA about a month back. Would I be correct in saying it is unlikely any neuropathy will show up in my exam I was only diagnosed recently?

Kind regards.

No need to worry at all. Neuropathy takes years to develop.

Try not to worry. The anxiety and stress you are putting yourself under will do nothing for your health!

Aye, @JoeJOns, I expect you’ll be here in 50 years asking the same question. Just get on with maintaining good control, surprise yourself with living a perfectly normal life🙂

Well I've had diabetes for almost 55 years and have no diabetic neuropathy so doubt it very much that you will have any problems.
From reading your posts I think you are worrying an awful lot about nothing.

Try and relax and most importantly enjoy life. Diabetes has to live with you not you with it 🙂 Yep it's a complete and utter pain in the article at times but then so is life in general at times.

We are all so lucky in having insulin (elixir of life) so make sure you make the most of your opportunity and enjoy yourself.
There's a lot of it might happen regarding complications, but then again you might get run over by a bus (I hope not) Then again like so many people these days you will probably not have any problems at all as long as you stick to the basics of testing your blood sugars and adjusting your insulin as needed.
