Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I've been a type 1 Diabetic for forty-one years and four years ago i started suffering with cold legs when sitting the evening. Since then i suffer with a constant freezing condition to touch in my thighs, shoulders, abdomen, chest and ears. My only relief is when i am moving about in the day time. Nobody can tell me why. Do any other Diabetics have these same symptoms?

Hi @paulcrombie I'm sorry you're going through this. Hopefully someone will be along with more information soon. In the meantime, have you tried calling our Helpline? If this is related to your type one, they may have heard of it before and might be able to provide some tips.

Welcome to the forum @paulcrombie

That sounds very difficult and unpleasant for you :(

Diabetes can affect circulation over time, and coupled with potential damage to the nerves this can lead to nerve pain or coldness in the extremities (eg hands and feet). I have no medical training, but I think it’s less common for diabetes changes to affect areas around the core like thighs, abdomen, and chest?

And of course not everything we encounter is connected to diabetes - so I wonder if it might be worth asking about a referral to get this checked out to try to ascertain the cause?
