Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi my name is Neil Mackay and I've been type2 diabetic since 2001. I'm on pills and insulin and my weight has risen every year. 3years ago I reached 20 stone 10 lbs. Then I was put on exenatide and over next 2.5years I lost 3 stone 5lbs. Just before Xmas last year I had to come off the exenatide and go back on the insulin. Since then regained 1stone 8lbs. My question to. You body is why am I on pills and, insulin, ant I just up the dose of insulin.

Welcome to the forums Neil 🙂

If you have a lot of insulin resistance often you can be put on metformin and insulin since the metformin helps the insulin resistance. Some type 1's take metformin as well for similar reasons.

Welcome to the forum, neilmack11.

You'll find the Weight Loss section useful for tips, support etc about, well, weight loss. Also, there's discussion about Exercise and Sport in that section -it's not just diet and medication that are important in managing your diabetes. 🙂

Hello neilmack

Welcome to the forum 🙂

If the tablets you are taking are metformin, I think there is a maximum dose above which they have no extra beneficial effect.

Adjustments to diet, losing weight and adding what activity you can should make you more sensitive to your insulin though I think
