A DAMNING report into care of the elderly at a top hospital was watered-down after inspectors were sent back to make a second visit.

On their first visit to Ninewells in Dundee, inspectors found 20 patients lying on trolleys in corridors with no beds available, according to a leaked first draft of their findings.

For reasons that are unclear, Healthcare Improvement Scotland sent inspectors back.

And yesterday?s report into the second inspection carries one line about patients on trolleys but gives no details of numbers.
