Hi is anyone having problems getting BD VIVA pen needles, my chemist is struggling to get them. Finally have appointment at diabetic clinic on Wednesday, will be asking about the half pens. Not seeing usual doctor as she is on leave, not bothered as didn’t think she answered many off my questions

You may need to get your prescription changed if they don't have and can't get BD Viva needles as they will probably not be able to dispense an alternative if your prescription specifies BD Viva needles. You could ask for the prescription and ring around other pharmacies in the area to find one which has them or can get them and take your prescription there. I had to do that with HRT a few years ago when there was a national, if not world wide, shortage.
I am pretty sure this issue with the needles will just be a distribution issue and a different franchise pharmacy or independent may well have them, rather than those needles being in short supply.

Ask at the pharmacy first. My prescription says bd viva and when they don’t have them the chemist says do you want to wait for them to come in or if you’re running out we can give an alternative brand of the same size needles.

That’s good. My chemist wouldn’t without my prescription being changed to a generic needle.

Can we buy needles over the counter, does anyone know? And are they cheap?
