Hi everyone!

I need some help please. I tested my bG random and it cane out 6.7 I was wondering if that is an okay result? I tested this about 2am. & last time I ate before I tested it was around 10 / 11.

For breakfast I had - one glass of milk & an apple.

Throughout the day- An pizza pie & a homeade juice full of different fruits such as pineapple, melon, oranges, lemon, beetroot, green apples, tangerines, carrots and many more. (& a handful of chickpeas after drinking the juice)

Lunch - had roti & chicken stew ( also called nihari)

And after the chicken stew I had a cup of green tea (with 0 sugar).

Nothing after that and my sugar level was 6.7

Is that normal? I reckon the fruit drink spiked it quite abit. Should I be worried?

Hi @Janshaz 6.7 is a normal blood sugar.

I’m guessing you don’t have diabetes? Is there any reason you think you might? What made you test your blood sugar?

Welcome to the forum @Janshaz

6.7 is within the normal range for blood glucose. But bear in mind that home glucose monitors are not intended for diagnostic purposes. And single spot-check readings are not able to give you an overall picture.

If you are concerned that you might be at risk of diabetes your best bet is to contact your GP to ask about an HbA1c blood test, which will evaluate your blood glucose profile over the preceding 3-4 months.

Hi @Janshaz
As per the other comments, the 6.7 reading is in a "normal" range, but if you have concerns best to get professional help. The finger-prick blood suger tests only provide a point-in-time value for your blood sugar, and can vary considerably depending on when the reading was taken in relation to meals and what you have eaten. So it is only a guide, useful to someone who needs to monitor their blood sugar levels. The HbA1c glycated haemoglobin test, however, picks up the long-term trend and is used by medical professionals to diagnose pre-diabetes, diabetes, or indeed no diabetes. So if you have not been diagnosed, but have concerns, book an appointment with your GP.
Regards, Nick
