Ok might sound stupid but here goes I'm on byetta injections & inject top of my arms but I've really skinny arms & top of my arms are muscle meaning injecting is rather painful & can be difficult to push the needle in sometimes I try to relax but I'm hopeless also it bleeds sometimes & I'm worried that I'm not getting full dose thought I'd ask on here as my doc is basically useless I'm now in the process of moving practice as I'm so fed up of my doc any advice welcome

Does it have to be your arms? Often people don't have enough er "padding" to be injecting in their arms (I too have fairly skinny arms and if or when I have injected them, I have found that I develop lumps really easily) so usually it's advised against. If you're concerned about the absorption speed, the stomach is considered fast as well.

Is it administered by a pen or a disposable needle? I'm wondering if you're changing the needle every time considering the discomfort and difficulty injecting it in you've mention. A new needle every time can make a world of difference.

Take care.

Okay. I wish I could advise better but considering you're not talking about an insulin, I'm not sure what the advice is on injection sites for it. If the stomach also becomes an issue, other sites could be the outer sides of your thighs (it's where most of the fat is) and buttocks. May even be worth looking at circulating sites like what is advised for insulin, but that's up to you.

I hope it gets a bit more comfortable for you now. 🙂

What length needles are you using? I use a 4mm, it might be worth checking to see if you can use a smaller needle.

I usually inject in my stomach, I was using my thighs but nurse said I don't have enough fat there.

Hope you manage to sort it out though 🙂

I cant be completely sure but I would assume Byetta and other similar inject-able medications can be injected into any sub cutaneous layer, meaning you have the same options as any insulin injecting diabetic......

So bum, upper thighs, stomach.........

The accompanying leaflet might highlight the available injection sites....

Try getting 4mm needles and use your tummy, bum and legs. I stopped using my arms many years ago. I've only just recently started using my bum as i'm giving my legs a break now.

Hi

I use 8mm needles and have been advised to inject in stomach - 4 finger width from the naval and to work around it clockwise each time I inect (i.e 12,3,6 and 9 o'clock). I did get lots of nasty bruises to start with but it didn't hurt at all injecting, and the bruises are few and far between now. I dont think I am brave enough to ever inject my arms or legs.

I dont feel a thing injecting my stomach.

I would give it a try - and see how you go.

Good luck with it.🙂

Thanks for the advice I'm going to see about getting smaller needles not tried tummy yet abit scared as I had major surgery in feb for a hernia so now have a very flat tummy & no belly button lol brilliant being able to come on here for advice etc thanks all

Hi,

I had a very large op on my stomach too but I honestly dont feel the injections - it might be worth a try if the arm is so painful.🙂
