Need a little support

Recently separated with my partner of 10 years , sadly she became board with my constant health issues which happens with type 1,injecting, testing, carefull eating etc. Anyway I'm stuck with it and can't run from it , so wondered where I could meet people who understand what it is like to live with type 1 for company and support .. I'm sorry to read your circumstances. Unfortunately diabetes doesn't give us a break when life gets tough but this forum is a friendly supportive place where we all 'get' diabetes and help each other along with the challenges we get thrown.

How has your diabetes been over the time you've had it. Are you on MDI or using a pump at present?

I joined the forum because I didn't know anyone else with T1 and had been in the wilderness trying to manage for a long time. I hope the forum will help you as much as it has helped me 🙂

Welcome Paul, glad you found us🙂. Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. You have definitely found the right place for understanding and support. I had a scary hypo recently and this has brought the diabetes much more to the fore. It seems that have become a third person in our marriage, but my husband has been amazing, not sure I'd be so good at getting the balance right between concern and letting me get on with it if it were the other way round.
Type 1 is certainly something the whole family has to live with.

This forum is very helpful for both Type 1 and 2 folk.

Have you checked the possible groups in your area? Not every location has them but always worth checking.
Go to https://www.diabetes.org.uk/ and in the search box top right type Groups and select your area.

Hi thanks for your reply , my diabetes control was bad during our break up but that was a year ago so just managing to gain control using novorapid 3 times and lantus once a day , had since age 11 , 48 now but struggling to meet people who really understand what it's like to live with, what would you do ?

Welcome to the forum OMO. There's some T1s around here. Have you looked for a Diabetes UK support group? There are a number around the country. There used to be a page on their website where you could search for them. They've changed their website a couple of times though and I don't have a link.
