Welcome louloulouHello I am Lou and looking for friends on here that can support each other as feeling lonely in Diabetic Times just some support Lou
Sorry you're not feeling well. The extended lockdown must be awful for you as well. Hopefully the GP will get you sorted out or refer you to a DSN if you don't already see one. Try not to be too worried about going out. Wear a mask if you need to and make sure you follow the guidelines re handwashing, social distancing etc. I know its easy to say don't worry, it must be really hard if you haven't been anywhere since March. I know how i felt going back to work in June, though i don't feel as worried about going out now. Let us know how you get on with the GP and remember we are all here to support one another.Leicestershire areas are still in lock down for 2 more weeks at the moment. I have been feeling very depressed over the last 2 weeks and getting some new pains in my body which not had before lower back pain really bad i am seeing my gp this week for bloods as cant delay them any longer because of covid 19 not been out the house since march only for short walks so really nervous . my journey is well out the blue i become very unwell year ago half ago and started to lose my eye sight was really scary i was rushed into to intensive care and that's really where it all started had ketones very sky high lucky to be here nurse said.
I started on 5 injections a day and done really well i am told now i am on 2 a day my sugars have been so good as but having days of 10 then sudden drop half hour later to 4 so think i need these blood tests to see whats going on Lou thanks for all you messages and kind words
just days need someone to talk to
Talk away, ask questions as much as you need, anything anyone on here can do to help all you have to do is ask, post, complain, anything - just do it. Love the Avatar, but then I am a doggie type person.
Hi again Lou
Sorry to hear that you are struggling again and having problems with back pain.
Just remember the world out there is no more scary than just before lockdown.... in fact probably safer since people are now much more aware and careful.
GP surgeries are some of the safest places because they are taking the most precautions. Are you able to walk to the surgery for your blood test or will you need to use public transport? If the latter, make sure you have a mask to wear and I would wear gloves too as you will probably be touching lots of surfaces that others have touched.... poles and handrails etc. You will most likely need a mask to enter the GP's surgery too but they should explain the procedure to you before you attend. I am sure you will find it all very organised and safe when you get there.... safer than normal because they are not allowing people to sit in the waiting room coughing and sneezing like they did before the virus.... we always used to say that if you weren't sick when you went to the doctors, you would be after.... but that no longer applies.
When do you go for your blood tests? Hope the doc is able to give you something for the back pain or suggest some stretching exercises which might help. Do you do anything like Yoga. That can be really good for mental wellbeing as well as keeping joints and muscles supple. I am sure there are online tutorials on how to get started.
Do you have any hobbies? What sort of things do you like doing?
I used to be petrified of needles and a very nice hospital doctor told me one time to just look away and think of anything other than the jab and dont tense up as thats what makes it worse so i tried that and couldn't believe the difference, hardly felt anything at all and thats still what i do and i now have no fear of needles at all..try that technique and see how that does for you.

I am so sorry to hear about your doggy I didnt know they are our family xI can understand that. My eldest dog died one week ago as you will probably have read on the Waking Average site in the forum. Still weeping.
Thank you so much really nice to hear from you again xCard making sounds interesting and I am sure the recipients are thrilled to get a handmade card... I know I would be.
We have a few crafty people on the forum and I think there is even a thread .... might be called something like "Procraftination" .... where people share pictures and discuss what they have made.
So pleased your husband is able to take you along to the surgery. It will all go very smoothly I am sure. Probably better than normal because there will not be that horrible wait in the wiring room... you can just sit in the car and listen to music until they call you in. Having a needle phobia and being diagnosed diabetic is such a bummer!.... Like diabetes isn't difficult enough without having to battle that on top of it on a daily basis! It sounds like you are making fantastic progress with it though. Really hoping all goes well for you.
