Made a blackberry crumble for family this evening... Haven't baked since dx in June... Couldn't resist sampling the mix....and sampling.... And sampling...... And sampling....
Have been relatively good up til now had my hba1c fri, just had to let rip.... Bs reading 10.2... However dinner shortly and due my metformin, hopefully it will reduce later

Sounds delicious! 🙂 Funnily enough, after they had taken the blood for my last HbA1c I was very naughty too! I thought well, I've been so good fr so long and this won't count in my next one because that's 6 months away!

BAD diabetics! 😉

I think we all need to relax from time to time. The crumble does sound nice and many would find it hard to resist.

Hi Lilies,
there's nothing to stop you eating the crumble just do some slight changes, ie a sept little pot to cook it in use sweetener for the fruit and adapt the crunble by using some ground almonds as part of the crumble mix.

As a child I had exactly the same sweets/puds as everyone else in the family just they were adapted for my needs by my lovely Mum. Thus the carbs per meal were kept well in range.

I always had a whole pud all to my self as well where as my brothers and parents had to share one between four. (kids logic hey) :D

Can't eat nuts though :(
But if we have it again will get one of my daughters to make it so I can't nibble and will get her to make it small so it all goes at once 'whose been eating the crumble ?' said OH earlier....oops caught out... Straight and narrow tomorrow, was sposed be straight and narrow today but pranged the car in a 'reversed into each other who knows who is at fault but nit too much damage scenario this morning' and needed comfort

How about using some porrage oats as part of the topping? Im no master cheif so am just banding ideas about.
Perhaps put a question in the food forum, I'm sure someone would be able to suggest something for you.

Lilies, I sometimes use pinhead oatmeal (the fine stuff) for crumbles. It turns nice and crisp and tastes good too.
