On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Maltese Diabetes Association, in collaboration with the Diabetes & Endocrine Centre of Mater Dei Hospital, will be organising a national seminar themed: Living with Diabetes ? The Way Forward.

The seminar will be opened by Health Minister Joe Cassar on Saturday, 12 November at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana. Registration opens at 8.30am and the seminar will finish at around 1pm.

The conference will focus on true life experiences with diabetes, and will include renowned local and foreign speakers who will be travelling to Malta purposely for the conference.

I know it's only a newspaper article and not the timetable, but find it slightly odd there isn't a single mention of T2 there.

Thinking about it, although I have only been there once and it was ages ago now, we often saw pigs flying in to roost in the evenings ...... quite shy critters, so I never estblished what breed they were. May have been Gloucester Old Spots though, as they weren't uniformly pink, which rules out Tamworths anyway ......

Ah yes! a likely story, next thing you'll be telling me they are thinking of extracting insulin for humans from pigs' pancreases! Stupid boy, Pike!

Although in Malta unlikely to be that particular breed, since they would find that a bit too far to fly.

More likely the Comino Saddleback?

Ah yes the Comino Saddleback, flying across the beautiful clear water on the beautiful Island of Comino, I went to Malta in in 1995? or thereabouts and it's a charming country, with charming, friendly Maltese people ( they are small in stature though)
I wish I could go back one day and I would like to vist Gozo as well :D Sheena

Gozo has a LOT more sand than Malta. We stayed in a fabulous large flat where all the furniture was eg G Plan, Slumberland beds etc etc - marble floors and bathrooms (3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms) Berylware crockery, Viners cutlery - if it wasn't furnished for a British Army Officers family, then I'm a monkey's uncle.

However, when we went up to the main road from the apartment building, we saw the main telephone exchange on one corner and the HQ of the Maltese Branch of the PLO on the other. Made me kinda nervous at the time ...... 😱

And every single TV aerial pointed towards Sicily. Maltese telly was very religious and finished at 10.30pm. But Sicilian apparently (we were told) was much better - and it had late-night porn! Lads were really peeved we only had Maltese in the flat !
