Well it does not pay to be complacent as a type 2 [possibly type 1 either]. 2 weeks past on Monday I had my annual HbA1c bloods taken. Last Monday my DN rang me to ask that I come in to see her, as my numbers were not good at all, and perhaps I should increase my Metformin to 1500mg daily for the next two weeks, with a view to seeing her today, and discussing introducing Gliclazide and/or a weekly injection to do at home myself.
Now, the thing is if my numbers increase even more, she told me I could seriously damage my organs ending up in hospital, the latter word being the worst thing she could have said. The consequencies of her call means that since 10 minutes after it, I emptied my fridge, freezer and cupboards of anything remotely carb high. I have been doing great all week since, I am not running to the loo every five minutes or having to go during the night more often, sometimes as much as five times, instead a huge difference going just once during the night.
I also feel ten times better, and oddly lighter!
The reason I have posted this is obvious, but also don’t even go down the road of treats, it won’t stop at just one time. I have terrific willpower, what I have lacked in the past year, particularly since my husband’s death is motivation.
The carrot dangling in front if me is the “hospital” word. This is because I have no-one to look after my three little Yorkies, they are my life. I live alone and have no family.
I have heard people who are on insulin tell me if they eat something they shouldn’t they just take more insulin, regardless of type if you’re not on insulin that is not an option!
Incidentally, the surgery just rang to say my appointment had to be moved to next week because my DN is having a PCR test, how lucky is that
