So I'm over 3 years late in joining the diabetes forum ... 😛

Hello everyone, my name Andy and I was diagnosed with Type 2 the week leading up to Christmas 3 long years ago after being diagnosed with a diabetic foot ulcer. I would have made the perfect poster boy for the NHS especially for anyone who decided to brush off going to the docs with a hole in the underside of their foot for several weeks/months. I left it sooooo long that I ended up Osteomyelitis (inflammation of bone or bone marrow) in my foot resulting in a 9 day stop over in the local hospital followed by a 6 week course of home IV followed by god only knows how many months of antibiotic courses along with a 12-18 month stint in a support walker boot.

You live and learn 😳

I have to say that the DUK website/forum has always been a vital source of information over the last few years.

Currently on a lovely mix of Metformin and Gliclazide tablets.

Welcome to the forum Andy 🙂 Very sorry to hear about your experience with your foot, sounds very nasty :( How is it now? Glad you decided to join - let us know if there is anything we can help you with! 🙂

Cheers for asking, the foot is well monitored these days by a crack squad of Podiatrists. It took me about 18 months before I could drive again as it was on the left foot (the clutch pedal foot :()

Welcome aboard big Andy, glad that the foot recovered, although sounds like a very scary affair to me. Hope the crack team of podiatrists keep a close eye on all things foot related from now on. Just wanted to say hello and welcome, and I hope you find it useful here 🙂
