I have been advised by my pharmacy that these test strips are not available. Apparently, MTD in Europe have taken over these products. I have tried to contact them by email without response. Has anyone else had problems please?
Everyone needs test strips too. (Just not as many with a CGM, almost certainly.)Have you considered a CGM or would you prefer to stick to fingerpricks?
Of course. Just wondered if with the potential to change devices that it might be a 'good' time to change to a CGM if @Roseahm is considering it.Everyone needs test strips too. (Just not as many with a CGM, almost certainly.)
Hi Anna. Did you ever hear what other tests strips work with mylife aveo? Ypsomed are in training until 5 December but I'd like to know now if there is anything that is compatible. ThanksOh no, that's a pain! If they haven't replied to you yet, have you tried calling them?
YpsoMed (manufacturer).Free phone number: Free Call 0344 856 7820.
Other test strips in the mylife range might work with the Aveo meter so worth asking YpsoMed about that if you call them. Otherwise, speak to your healthcare team to prescribe another meter and strips altogether.
Let us know how you get on @Roseahm.![]()
Hi Anna. Thanks for looking into this. Yes changing meters seems like the best option right now. I'll try and get ypsomed tomorrow when they're back from training and I'm waiting on a response from my diabetes team - their voicemail said it may take them 5 working days! My GP surgery is constantly engaged so getting a prescription for a new meter and strips is proving difficult to say the least. I asked my pharmacy how long they intended waiting before they let me know of aveo strips unavailability- they said a week! Had to point out to them that I'd placed the prescription 9 days before calling them but they just don't understand how important the strips are - it makes me angry. I've had ketones too so that adds another worry into all of this. Hopefully I'll hear good news tomorrow. Thanks for the info.Hi @Magarr, sorry for the delay in coming back to you. I've had a look into this and can see that all the test strips YpsoMed do are compatible with the other mylife range (Unio, Neva, Cara, Pura and Pura X) except yours, the mylife Aveo. Looks to be as if the Aveo is a newer meter they've started making. As this is not helpful to your situation, it looks like changing meters might be the better option. What do you think you might do?
I'll go online tomorrow (not available until then). I have a caresens meter for ketones but it's dual so it makes sense to switch blood testing to that. Unfortunately no other brand is compatible with mylife aveo which isn't great. Aah these things were meant to test us Thank goodness for my insulin pump which meant I didn't manually have to administer lots of additional insulin due to the ketones Thanks for your advice. The meter I was switched to earlier this year is a Glucofix Tech GK which also has Ketone strips as well - perhaps this kind of meter would be beneficial for you - if you are getting nowhere though you could try ringing 111 or going online and getting an emergency prescription (I did this a few months ago when I realised I didn't have any pen needles left (I thought I had another box!), and it was the weekend!) - my local pharmacy did not have my usual ones but was happy to supply me with a different brand which were compatible
How many strips do you have left? Have you got many left to test for ketones?Hi Anna. Thanks for looking into this. Yes changing meters seems like the best option right now. Does your practice have econsult to try?I'll try and get my GP/diabetes team/ ypsomed by phone tomorrow. If this all fails, I'll just go and buy another dual meter and additional strips for it.
Thanks. Yes I had bought bg strips for the caresens - I've now got both bg and ketone strips for it on prescription. We'll see how to goes with the caresens - i loved the aveo as it seemed to take a lot of handling/bumping around. Hey ho crisis over.If you have a Caresens Dual then why not just buy a pot of test strips for that rather than another meter and test strips, at least until you manage to sort the situation out with your Health Care Professionals. I use a Caresens for both although I can't remember a time I needed to tested ketones. I don't particularly like the Caresens Dual as it is heavy on batteries and dislikes the cold, but your lifestyle might be more comfortable for it than mine..... outside in the cold a lot at this time of year.
