Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on any of this, I am supposedly type II, have regular foot checks- fine, blood tests-fine except sometimes over the last three years my cholesterol has been up and one of my gp's kind of stresses that I must be on statins. I keep throwing them away as they make me so ill and try to manage through diet only.
Now, an example is that some days I feel like I am about to pass out and am very dizzy, some days I do pass out and feel like I have woken from a coma, if I check my bloods before having to lay down they are usually around 6mmol.
I have chest issues, had acid reflux for 2 years and have a persistent cough with tightness within my rib cage which the doctor puts down to anxiety because I could not swallow for fear of choking and had soup for a year... I did lose a lot of weight though!
Ok, today I am out shopping, i become light headed and it passes, I arrive home and do the naughty- which I do not honestly do often and that is eat a pack of shortbread- or six fingers. This is a no no for me supposedly but after an hour i felt light headed and ready to pass out again, blood readings were 5.8 mmol.. like after a pack of horrendously sweet shortbread.
I have changed my diet completely and I eat mostly fish perhaps 5-7 days, boiled potatoes and lots of broccoli, i have the odd home made curry but not in the western style, i do not use any oils whatsoever. I stopped eating bread 3 months ago and removed wheat from my diet just to see if I am allergic and still unsure. Also, whilst I am at it, I used to have the cholesterol reducing spread every day with bread and my cholesterol was always too high, now I have pure butter but no bread, maybe some rice cakes and my cholesterol is fine.
Every time i go to the doctor i ask for some checks with regards my supposed type II and they still tend to come back as normal.. but I am still supposedly diabetic.. I just don't get it. my step mum is type II and she recently had a stroke, she was massively overweight, smoked 60 cigs per day and ate bread, cake and everything she wanted to, many times i have heard her say that her sugar levels were 28mmol-38mmol!!
I can honestly say that in the last three years I had one day which was 11mmol and that was after drinking some shop bought fizzy drink due to being excessively thirsty. For me 3.5mmol-6mmol seems to be the norm.
I would appreciate anyones advice or thoughts on this please.
