I've been doing really low carb since 3rd Jan for my t2. Lost 3 stone 🙂

Today was my fasting blood test at Drs. I get my results in a few weeks.

My plan all this time was to have a treat day after my blood test - then get back on it.

I went to McDonald's and had some large fries and a cream egg mcflurry! 30mins after I was 6.8mmol then 90mins after 5.8. So I'm really really pleased. 🙂

I had planned to have what I wanted today - but after the McDonald's - I managed to control myself, and all the chocolates I got as gifts at Christmas, that I was planning on bingeing on - stayed in the cupboard.

I couldn't bring myself to eat them - spiking my levels for the sake of it - when I've been trying so hard all this time.

For the first time - I think this low carb diet is something I could actually see myself sticking to. Apart from pasta, rice, potatoes -- I'm eatting what i would want anyway. And I've found alternatives for those 3 carbs for most meals.

Back on it tomorrow - 3 more months, 3 more stone to lose. And now I know I could possibly have a ice cream treat every few weeks. It might be even easier 🙂

Wow 3 stone since january is amazing.....you have certainly done well! Even better that you had a treat, restrained yourself and then got back into the diet, that is really good going (I find it harder if i have had a treat). Good luck with your results 🙂

Great that you've lost 3 stone since January well done x

Well done bob - great weight loss 🙂 And good that your tastes have changed - I also found this happened to me. I used to have a bit of a blowout on my birthday, but then discovered that I was standing in the supermarket and selecting the least 'dangerous' item - a trifle or a chocolate eclair - I'd fancied the trifle but decided the eclair would be better for my blood sugars! 🙂 I also used to be a real 'grazer' prior to diagnosis, now I only snack a couple of times a day, and my evening snack is cheese, so no impact on levels 🙂

Keep up the good work, sounds like you have turned a corner 🙂

That's fantastic bigbob. Well done !

Excellent. I'm a newbie but I've found a lot of great information and encouragement here. I'm looking quite seriously at cutting carbs and wondered what alternatives you take for pasta, rice and potatoes.

Well done, Bob. When you've been low carbing for a while & getting good results, it is difficult to cheat. I celebrated my last results with a jacket potato!

Thats awesome bigbob. Well done. I'm in the same boat as you, diagnosed in January and went straight onto low carb diet. I am 2 stone down now and feeling much happier !! I've got my blood test on 6th April and then my son't 18th Birthday on 7th - so my plan is to buy him his first legal pint, have one with him (not a big drinker myself, but it's a right of passage lol). Then before he goes out with all his mates, take him for a nice meal - so that will be my blow out. I can't wait. Looking forward to some curly fries from "Smith and Western" OH I have simple tastes.

I would be really interested in what you eat (do you post in the "what I had last night") as I sometimes find cutting carbs quite tough (to keep the variety up) - sat here now eating celery.

well done again
Nigel
