take them back to the pharmacy! Or ring up Ypsomed and get them to send you some new ones.

Are you putting the strips in right? Is it calibrated properly? Have you done a control solution test?
 
I got my strips today (at last!) and no problems!
 
Error messages and codes are on pages 40-43 of the manual. There is no 'error test code' listed. If that is the actual error and you get it repeatedly I would suggest you phone Ypsomed (page 48) 01757288587. You will get a 'Code Error' if you don't insert the strip properly, usually too far to the right, make sure it is touching the end of the slot on the left before inserting.
 
I sometimes used to get an error code on my optium exceed meter. for some reason occasionally new strips would completely change the date and time settings, I had to re set the date and the strips would then be ok? Just a thought.

Like others have said though all error codes are explained in the manual.
