so i requested test strips & insulin

got the test strips but no insulin - they've refused it & said i dont require it for 2 more weeks......

i've pointed out that i need insulin to live - nope i dont need it yet

my poor DSN has had to enter into the battle yet again to point out, i'm T1 i NEED insulin.

Whether you are T1 or T2 or anything in between, if you are prescribed insulin you need it, and there should not be any stupid time restrictions on when you can have more!! This is bordering on being unfit to practice! 😱 😡 I would have thought they would have learned their lesson by now!

I talked to one of our GPs about getting repeat prescriptions for insulin and test strips and she said while they wont allow other medications to be represcribed too frequently, they cannot predict when I will require insulin etc so have this on a 'free order'. Also I was given a letter by my pump specialist to give the surgery to say I must have insulin and test strips whenever I request them.
So far all this has worked fine while I've been on MDI so I hope it will continue when I start my pump (also a rRoche Combo) in two weeks.
We shouldn't have to fight for this should we?! 🙂

laura is there any way you can change GPs??? it just seems so ridiculous that they put you through this whole process every few months !! completely unnecessary .
good luck ! x

What a complete d1ck! Hope your DSN can make them see sense.

How are you getting on with your pump now? Are you using different infusion sets?

Congrats! I also start on my Roche Combo in 2 weeks time (19 Nov). Fortunately my Drs are very good with my prescriptions.

Laura... it's just unbelievable what your surgery does. Hope your DSN gives them what for!

Just unbelievable!! 😱

Am I right in remembering you had some problems with them 'losing' your complaints Laura?

This latest experience really is completely beyond the pale. Can you complain higher up the food chain?

What EDUAD said Laura. It's time for a letter to the CCG, PALS, your MP and anyone else you can think of. Include copies of all your letters and any replies from them, and list every occasion when they've done things like this. If your DSN is willing, cite her as a witness as she's had to intervene before.

And seriously, look for another surgery as soon as you can.

I'm stunned that they can do this to you, again! It beggars belief.

well i have 8 vials now instead of 4 (DSN asked my gp for this given the frequent issues i have)

had to tell the doc why i need it (even tho my nurse explained) & why i have lantus & novo penfill cartridges also on my script (already explained this 3 times to 3 different gps)

on a sad note i have another site infection - grrrr 😡

redkite - am getting on better with my cannulas since my new inserter came (apparently this was the main cause of the problems i was having due to it being faulty)

Let's hope this never happens again Laura, it's ridiculous that they should be so ignorant about the need for insulin, given that it is probably the greatest medical discovery of the past 100 years (or equal ranking with antibiotics) and is needed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide 🙄

Ask for a home visit every time you need insulin alternativley if they do htier own out of hours call them and insit they come out at a ridicuaous time 2am to do a repeat perscription and remind them that you need this to live when they come

Thought my doctor was useless! Nickname dr computer says no. Don't they realise that we're vulnerable people and that if they want us to be 'good' diabetics we need 'good' doctors.
Absurd!

Nice one, Mel!
