Hi Ray, welcome to the forum 🙂 I hope you find it helps you with your diabetes - have you been diagnosed long, and how did you come to be diagnosed? Quite a few of the Type 1.5s here were originally misdiagnosed as Type 2 - were you?

I was diagnosed as a type 2 15 years ago at the age of 33. I was originally put on tablets but very soon afterwards I had to go on the injections. I take lantus as my 24 hour background and I take humalog as my fast acting mealtime insulin.

About 5 years ago my clinic started me on the DAFNE course. When people have asked me as to whether I was type 1 or 2 I always replied that I was a Type 1.5. It was only today when I was registering onto this forum that I found out that there is now a Type 1.5 as a classification. It's about time that people realise that there are many diabetics who are neither Type 1 or 2. Until today I've always felt that I was in limbo although I'm be treated medically as Type 1.

Helloo Ray, welcome to the forum.

I think you're right about how different diabetes can appear in people whether type 1 or type 2. At its simplest we can perm any variation of pancreatic insulin production plus insulin resistance to obtain all sorts of different results!
