Hi. Thought I would say hello before getting more involved. I have had type 1 diabetes for 32 years and am currently taking 6/7 insulin injections daily. I am also waiting for an insulin pump but since this can take up to a year I have quite a few months yet until that will materialise.

Hello Josco

Welcome to the forum 🙂

Hi Josco, welcome to the forum 🙂 What pump will you be getting? We have a lot of pumpers here if you need to ask any questions 🙂

Hi Josco,
welcome to the forum. 🙂
It should not take a year to get a pump, even with a PCT doing a go slow 3 months should be the limit.
Have you been told the reasons for the delay?
INPUT are very good at giving PCT's gentle hints regarding pump funding.

Thanks for the friendly welcomes

Northerner - I have no idea which pump it will be as I have only had the initial assessment so far. It is good to know that there are people with experience who will be able to help once I start on that road.

Sue - Until recently the pump clinic would not have been able to say there was a year's wait as it took longer. I live in Scotland so not sure if that makes any difference.

Hi Josco, are you aware of IPAG? They may be able to suggest ways to help speed your pump application up. 🙂

Welcome to the forum Josco 🙂

Josco hi and a warm welcome to the forum

Welcome Josco - as Northerner says, IPAG is very helpful about insulin pump issues in Scotland. You can put Scotland (or something more precise, if you like) in your location in your profile.

Hi Josco. Welcome to the forum.:D

Josco,

Welcome.......

I am also waiting for a pump.............it took 2 months from the consultant saying aye to my first pump clinic consultation, I have a few more appointments with other members of the team, DSN and Dietician, before I will be trained up before I go live....

So for me the process has been quite quick, surprisingly being in Scotland as well.........but I suppose there is plenty of time for things to go wrong with my quick pre pump experience.....

Welcome again.......🙂

Nice to meet everyone. What a friendly bunch you are!! I have not heard of IPAG so will check that out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Welcome to the forum Josco! 🙂

Hi Josco, and welcome. There are people on the forum with 40 and 50+ years on insulin so you will find a wealth of experience and information. You mention 6/7 injections a day. I am currrently on 4 and have been on 5, and would be interested in more detail of your regime.
