hi all, i had my first hypo this morning. woke myself at 4am feeling more than uncomfortable. checked my bms and 1.8mmol/l which is pretty low i believe. i drank a recovery formula and after a few hours i feel rough as a badgers ...

this has come about after the diabetic nurse advised me to up my Glargine, i will now reduce it again

Wow Mike, that's a nasty low, I'm glad to hear that you woke eventually from it. They are often worse at night and give you that 'hypo hangover' as a consequence. Why was it suggested you increase the glargine, and what level did you go to bed on? I'd suggest setting your alarm for 3am for a few nights so you can just check how things are. Remember also that other factors may have contributed to the low, such as increased activity during the day or alcohol as two examples - always best to try and think whether there may be multiple factors contributing so you can adjust with more confidence in future.
