hi everyone,
I am so new to this but i need so advice i am 30 years old my father has type 2 diabete and leg ulcers. He gets visits from the district nurses but i live with him. I just need some one to talk to that understands what i am going though

Hi DAM, welcome to the forum 🙂 I am sorry to hear about your father - has he been diagnosed long? Is he on any medication for his diabetes, and does he test his blood regularly? Prolonged high blood sugar levels can make it difficult for problems like ulcers to heal, what treatment is he currently receiving fr the ulcers and has he had them long?

Sorry for all the questions! If you can let us know a little bit more about how things are with him then is will help us help you more 🙂

Hi DAM

Welcome to the forum. I'm new to all this too, but there is a wealth of support and experience on here, from those with diabetes, to carers / parents.

Hi DAM. Welcome 🙂

It must be very difficult for you. Is your father compliant with his meds & treatment?

Rob

Welcome DAM 🙂

I had leg ulcers last year even though I'm very young for it and I wasn't getting anywhere with district nurses so I self referred to the local leg ulcer clinic who managed to heal me in 7 months using this clay type compression bandage. I am in the southampton area but if you aren't there must be such a service for your dad in your area. Hope he turns a heal corner soon - I know its a very long process and distressing for everyone.
