My statin dosage was increased 3 months ago from 60mg to 80mg and i had my blood test last week and got my results today - it has only dropped slightly from 5.6 to 5.2 :( I saw my GP this eve and she said that if i was a non-diabetic then she would have been pleased with this reading but of course because i am diabetic she would like it lower so i now have to have another test in 3 months time. She mentioned another type of drug ending in .....zine (can't remember what she said) so i'm guessing that she will add this other drug to my statins in 3 months time if it's not lowered. She did however praise me on my good control of my diabetes and i also managed to wangle another prescription for some more test strips 🙂

5.2 is still a reduction, another 3 months and it could well be in the 4's🙂

If you are maxing out on simvaststin ( 80mg) and still out of the target for T2 diabetics ( under 4) then NICE recommend adding Ezetimibe (Ezetrol).
