Hello there and welcome to the forum.

There are plenty of parents who use this forum, so I'm sure that you'll start getting some really useful advice and chats shortly.

Meanwhile, have a look through the various sections, there are bound to be some issues already raised that you'll find of interest.

Andy 🙂

Welcome to the forum, but sorry you have to be here. I'm 22 and have had type 1 for almost 20 years, the one thing I have always said is that I am grateful to have been diagnosed at such a young age as I don't remember a life before d. Sounds a bit gloomy, but as this is all I've ever known, I don't have moments where I think about a life before d.

Have you signed up to the Children With Diabetes UK emailing list? Hundreds of parents email each other on a daily basis, asking for/giving advice, asking questions, so on so forth! You can sign up to it here:

http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/uk/

They are incredibly supportive and will be happy to help you in any way you need it.

I can't really advise on the eating or mood swings, but just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I was diagnosed at 3, so can't advise from a parent's point of view but I have been there as a child. Like shiv, I have always been grateful for a young diagnosis as I can't remember life without diabetes. And I have always been grateful to my parents for looking after me and my diabetes so well when I was young - they really got me off to a good start. I'm sure your daughter will be grateful to you, too. It must be incredibly difficult for you, but the hard work you're putting in now will really pay off.

There are quite a few parents, and some quite experienced, on the forum so you will find lots of support. Adrienne in particular is fabulous!
