This is my 100,000th post to the forum 😱 First post was back in November 2008, two days after the forum launched, and since then it would appear that around 10% of everything posted here is by me 😱 I take full responsibility, I hope at least some of it was helpful and useful! :D

I couldn't be happier with the way the forum has progressed 🙂 I have seen countless people being helped by others willing to share their experiences and offer support to people either new to the whole thing, or struggling after many years, often with little support from their healthcare teams. I have also made many, many friends among such a varied membership - young and old, with all levels of experience and things to deal with, and from all walks of life - it has been a great pleasure 🙂

I'm also very happy that the friendly, welcoming approach we have taken from the very beginning has continued under the current stewardship of @everydayupsanddowns - thank you Mike 🙂

Here's to the next 100,000! 😱 🙂

Congratulations Alan and many thanks for all those wise, insightful, poetic and amusing contributions. Look forward to the next 100,000.

Love your posts @Northerner, keep 'em coming please 🙂

Wow! What an amazing milestone. And every post has been a little jewel of insight wit and wisdom 🙂

Thanks for the kind words Northie, and don’t forget @Cherrelle DUK too. It takes 2 people to fill your shoes!

Ah yes, I'd forgotten you two share things around so you each get time to sleep and eat 😉 :D Thanks @Cherrelle DUK

@Northerner was the next post you did after the 100,000th one a huge DRAT! like MR. Monk: from Monk the TV show; have to post another 99,999 times for the next round number? o_O:D😛😉
Hehe! :D Using a rough estimate of 5 minutes spent on each post (some were much shorter, some very much longer!) I worked out that I have spent a total of 347 days, 24 hours per day, posting. That doesn't, of course, include the many, many hours of hand-wringing and anguish as I reviewed every post in case they breached our guidance on tolerance and accuracy, and sadly had to remove one or two over the years 😱 :D Also, I banned some members - but actually that only ever amounted to a very small number (not including the spammers, who were banned in their multitudes 🙂 ) I had a lot of help, of course, from the various Moderators who have worn the deputy badge, and it's good to see that we now have a good contingent standing guard, including much greater participation by Diabetes UK (which was virtually non-existent until 2015).

I would like to make a special mention of @AlisonM and @Copepod, who worked as Moderators for many years, but who both tragically were taken from us far too young :( They were very special people, and are sadly missed :(

Woo hoo Alan. What a milestone and I’m very honoured to know you personally. Although it’s a while since we last met up, damn you Covid. Keep up the good work. 🙂

Yes, I had hoped to get around the country a bit in 2020, sadly not to be :( Hopefully things will turn around this time - we seem to have been getting close, then having to deal with it all over again :(

That is a fabulous milestone @Northerner congratulations and thank you for everything you have done for this forum and all the meet ups you arranged in days of yore. It's an honour to have met you on a few occasions ,pity the Diabetes Fairy always seemed to have sneaked a ride in your rucksack.

I hope you have a bit more time these days to sit and and read in your multi-coloured armchair 🙂

Unfortunately, it's in her nature to detect a gathering of the glucose-hesitant and use her powers to ensure her presence - she tells me it's 'in case she can help' 😱 :D

I do have more time to read, but puzzlingly my 'to read' book pile does not appear to have got any smaller! 😱 :D

Another inspirational diabetic superstar!
Privileged to consider you my friend.
I wonder if when you will hit the next milestone ha

101 010, 101 101 and then 111 111 are all interesting numbers, and a lot closer than 200 000!

What a milestone @Northerner
Thank you for all your input and support.
