Firstly a belated Happy New Year!

Over the Christmas holiday period I sorted my books & shelves, and found that I have 35 cookery books, of which 19 are about diabetes & keto & losing weight & healthy living etc, plus a box file of leaflets & cuttings.
Yet I can only remember doing 2 or 3 of the recipes, usually I just make it up

So just like the school reports, this year I'll make an effort to try out & stick to recipes & meal plans ..... hmmmm ...... we shall see ......

Recipe books are for getting inspiration. I never actually follow the recipe. I openly apologise to people from all over the world for the lack of care I have taken with their national dishes.
I don't slavishly follow cooking recipes and will often substitute stuff. However baking is different and I follow the recipe until it becomes tried and tested. At that point I will try tweaking the recipe in terms of flavour and currently trying to make lower carb versions after being inspired by @s'nic and her baking shared on the forum.

the only time i follow a recipe is when im baking. for almost everything else, just wing it based on what you like.

I find cookery books are just dust collectors,
Yes, me too but then I moan that I'm bored with the stuff that I'm eating. I can never win with myself

What are quite useful for inspiration are the free booklets from Tesco, ASDA, etc as you can just browse for anything you fancy, give it a try and keep if it is and just chuck into the recycling if not.

At my age, I'm afraid that recipe books are for taking to the charity shop.
