Hi my mum has had 2 toes amputated and I am overwhelmed I need help
Certainly, Ian, this is a great support group for you & your Mum.... The members have a lot of experience in managing diabetes or caring for loved ones with diabetes.I was just wondering if this is the right place for me to come. She unfortunately hasn't bn very compliant with diet. I have advised her numerous times of a diet plan. She has bn in hospital for 4 weeks now and each time they tell her she needs something else removing. She now just wants to go home and I'm wondering if there is any alternative
I have no personal experience of this other than I saw our local news program interview a local man (with diabetes) who had all his toes removed a few weeks earlier and he was walking about with the aid of sticks but he was more concerned about the wait for the operation. I remember also the lady in the next bed to my partner a few years ago was waiting for her toes to be amputated, they had turned black and she was OK afterwards. The store manager where my daughter works has recently had both his lower limbs amputated through diabetes complications. He whizzes about in his wheelchair and is awaiting artificial legs and knowing him, the ones with springs, nothing seems to faze him. Married last year and now a father. Admittedly younger than your mum Ian, but people face these obsticales with all the courage they can muster. They hospital has a duty of care towards your mother and they will do the best for her. Regards DaveHi thanks for all Your replies. The doctor has spoken with her this morning and they need to now remove all toes. Does anyone have any experience with this
