Hi, I've just found this forum and hope it will be helpful. I have twin boys, one of whom was diagnosed Type 1 on Monday - the other seems fine. My husband is also Type 1 so we have some idea what we are dealing with, although, to be perfectly honest I've always kept my distance from my husband's diabetes. Feeling like a new Mum all over again!

Hi Rho, welcome to the forum🙂 We have a lot of parents here who are very knowledgeable about diabetes in children, so please ask any questions you may have. There is a link in the 'Links' section also to a site specifically for parents dealing with this, so you might want to check that also.

Hi Rho 🙂

Welcome! Are your twins ID or non ID? Hope things settle down quickly for you and your family - at least your husband should be able to help a bit, setting a good example etc?!

Cate.

Hi and welcome to the forum!:D

Sorry you have to be here though. My son is 11 and was diagnosed at 10 and is now on a pump. He loves the pump more than injections and control is much much better. What regimen is your son on? How has he taken it? I would think that as your husband has experience that at least you can deal with some of the basics. I was completely clueless until i found this site and got so much help and advice. Feel free to ask anything you want - you will always get a reply.🙂Bev

Hi Rho,

Glad you have found the site, welcome, you are among people who know what you are going through. It must be hard for you all.

Like Bev says, if you have any questions you only have to ask and there is always someone about.

Take care xx

Welcome tot he forum. I hope you have had a chance to look round a bit and see what we have to offer.

As hubby is also type 1 he will be able to help in the care of your youngster. I hope you find all the answer you need on the parents forum or the general message boards. There are lots of parents who have been there for a while and everyone is happy to help.

Hi Rho

So sorry to hear about your son. This is a great place to be though and everyone is so friendly.

Also take a look at www.childrenwithdiabetesuk.org it is a site written by parents for parents and there is help with schools and others things on there.

Take care

Welcome. It is so much to take in at first. I felt the same - it was like coming home from hospital with a new born - we were totally lost. Feel a little bit the same at the moment as we are about to change Katie's insulin regime and start carb counting - very daunting. This forum is great - ask anything you want.
