A Hailsham mum with Type 1 diabetes is organising a fundraising event today (Friday, November 14) to mark World Diabetes Day.

Charlotte Hutson was diagnosed with the condition when she was just nine years old after suffering from common symptoms such as feeling very thirsty, tired and losing a lot of weight.

She spent a week in hospital on a drip before being taught how to inject twice a day and leaving hospital with all the necessary equipment to allow her to continue living a full and happy life without being held back by the disease.

Charlotte, who is now 25 and mother to a little boy called Harry, spends her time supporting other people in the area who suffer from diabetes. To that end, she is organising an event to raise awareness of the condition and gather funds for national charity Diabetes UK.
