Moving to America for a year..

Hello,
In January I am moving to America for a year to take part in an internship. I am looking for some advice on what to do for Medical insurance? Has anyone done a similar thing? What did you do?

A school mate of mine move to the NY area about two years ago. He says Massachusets state have the closest thing to a French system of health in the country. So maybe you will be working in that state?
