Mounjaro not working

Hi, I was put on Mounjaro in Dec 24, increasing the dose every 3 months, currently on 7.5mg.
HBa1C has only dropped minimally and only 0.1
kg weight loss.
Saw my diabetic nurse today who has upped it to10 mg and told me that are seeing a group of people where nothing happens until they take 10 mg.
Fingers crossed the increased dose actually does something or they will take me off it x

Sorry to hear you’ve not found Mounjaro very effective on lower doses @NicF

Have you seen much change in your appetite?

I’ll tag in @goodybags @Katetype2 and @ColinUK who I think have found Mounjaro effective in case they have any suggestions based on their experience.

Hi @NicF firstly sorry that so far Mounjaro hasn’t helped you
I think for us T2,s it’s often very slowly increased through our HCP’s in my case it was slowly increased as I was on insulin when I started taking MJ just over a year ago and only a few months ago went up from 10 to 12.5

I have a few friends who who are not Diabetic they purchase on private prescription and the first 3 pens were 2.5,5 & 7.5 so by month 6 on the full 15mg
Hi

you say you’ve lost less than a KG at first that suprised me, but thinking back prior to Mounjaro
I had been prescribed Trulicity as an alternative to Ozempic worked for me, Trulicity didn’t do anything for me, however Mounjaro has worked so far very well for me, and a few of us on the forum

In the past my GP kept me on trulicity until supply shortages were encountered, neither the GP or DSN were suggesting I try something else, but after they couldn’t prescribe me that a few months later my DSN suggested we try Mounjaro
Im no expert, but maybe it might be worth asking if the 10 doesn’t help they look at the alternatives

do you have much weight to loose and how high is your Hba1c at the moment?

I lost right from 2.5mg. I’m on 15mg now and boy is it effective. Zero side effects on most doses once I was above 7.5mg.

How much weight do you have to drop?
Are you drinking enough fluid?
Are you in a calorie deficit?
How about exercise, are you capable of doing any?

Worth noting that 10mg is the first dose at which get the manufacturers expect people to lose weight. At lower doses they may lose but it’s not expected.

7.5 is still a relatively small dose so you may find you need a higher dose for it to be effective. As has been said the NHS tends to be slower to increase the dose whereas when getting it privately you can increase each month.

It didn't do anything for me on the lower dose - the food noise in my head was still as loud as ever. Reading the gubbins about it, I don't think it's actually expected it kick in until you reach a dose of at least 10mg. You're lucky if you get good results on a lower dose.

Hang on in there, if you want to continue with Mounjaro. Things may get better now you have upped the dosage.

I came off it because it made me feel awful, didn't do anything for me weight wise and was costing a fortune
