Mounjaro Monday - Week 21 update

Howdy,

Last week I was in a bit of a panic over my alarming blood pressure… I am happy to report that I am fine. The machine I used at the pharmacy gives everyone a high reading (eye roll). My diastolic number is still a bit high, but I’m not about to snuff it. I just need to push on with my weight loss and fitness. Thanks to all that reached out with support.

My lowest weight reading this week indicated a loss of about 2.4lbs. Fluctuations going on as always thanks to the gym, but overall everything is going in the right direction.

I did a lot of exercise until Thursday when I was struck down with a nasty cold. Had a few days of bed rest, but managed to get back to the gym yesterday and back to work today. Feeling pretty grotty right now - colds always seem to hit me like a truck when I get them. I can’t imagine that diabetes helps much when you’re sick - so I’m making sure I get plenty of rest when I’m home.
Gym is going well - I’m an absolute beast on the leg press - managed 164kg yesterday (25.8st). By far my favourite thing to do at the gym and it burns a ton of calories too! I will have thighs like Sabre from Gladiators by Christmas! A girl can dream…

Mounjaro symptoms are minimal. Just the usual bit of constipation, which I will take over the opposite any day haha. I am pretty sure that the appetite suppression element all but stopped working for me at the 5mg dose - so I’m kind of relying on self discipline at this point. It’s not too bad, but I seem to continually be in meetings with cakes and biscuits lately. I do manage to resist, but sometimes I swear the donuts are speaking to me… I am contemplating asking to move up to 7.5mg. I just can’t seem to make my mind up if that is what I want. Is it still too soon to move up? Do I want to risk more side effects right now? I don’t know. Maybe if it’s not a firm yes, then it’s no. When I first got prescribed Mounjaro, the diabetes nurse told me that she doesn’t tend to put anyone on a higher dose than 7.5mg (even though you can go up to 15mg). Maybe this plays on my mind - if I move up now, I may not be able to move up again without a fight on my hands. The other thing I think about is discipline for the future - being able to turn things down without being on the drug. I don’t know if I should put that concern aside for now while I’m still very overweight and should worry about it nearer the end of my weight loss journey…

Ugh! Too much to think about when I’m full of a cold!

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and managing to get out between all the rain days. Have a great week, all.

Thanks for the ongoing updates @Katetype2

Great to hear things are going well - well done on resisting temptation, and brilliant work at the gym.

Onwards and downwards!

So impressed by your determination and self control @Katetype2. Nice to hear the weight is still coming off and you are enjoying the gym exercises. <3
