Mounjaro Monday - Week 16 update

Ello!

Another good week this week with another couple of lbs off. I have now hit 60lbs! I can hardly believe it - well over half way to 100lbs. I’ve dropped 10 BMI points and have lost 18.6% of my total body weight.

Just think… 60lbs = 10 six pound babies!

This week saw my last Ladies that Lift class - it was great and I’m really glad I did it. I’m looking forward to building on what I have learned now and hopefully will continue lifting well in to the future. The instructor gave us all a little key ring with a mini kettlebell, dumbbell and barbell as a thank you.
Ladies everywhere - no matter what age and size you are I cannot begin to explain how beneficial lifting is for us - especially those of us over 40. Aside from all the ways it helps with blood sugar regulation, it also helps with our bone density, joint health, preventing muscle loss, mental health… You won’t get bulky unless you spend years training and eating a high calorie bulking diet. But it will make a hell of a difference to your health!

I’m having to go to the office a lot more frequently - so I’m getting a lot more steps in at the moment, which is good. I actually managed 10k steps yesterday for the first time in a long time. This has taken months of building up my stamina since rehabbing my anterior pelvic tilt. This time last year, the lower back pain the tilt was causing was preventing me from walking more than a 100 yards at a time. I’m now able to walk freely for as long as I want. I’ll never take walking for granted again. All in all either the weight loss and improved fitness, I’m starting to feel good. I no longer fear times when I may need to make effort - I can just get on with life.

Mounjaro wise - no symptoms. Appetite suppression is low, but enough to keep me on track and losing. Provided things stay like this, I will stick to 5mg. I think if I struggle in Autumn/Winter when we all want more hearty foods then I may look to increase the dose.

All in all, a good week. I hope you are all having a wonderful bank holiday and getting out in the fresh air. Take care.

Well done you! What an achievement!

I am certain that your weekly updates inspire and encourage others too, so keep up the good work and many thanks for posting.

Well done, you are doing fantastic. The ladies that lift class sounds great, hope you continuing doing the lifting.

Love the keyring Kate. Are you using any weights at home?
Great looking graphics showing your achievements to date. Well done :star:
Looking forward to next week's update. Your journey is very inspiring.<3

Congratulations on your weight loss success. Can anyone tell me the process to get a prescription for Monjaro? I have hypertension (on 4 pills for this) pulsatile tinnitus (hearing heartbeat in ear) and a fused left ankle. BMI is high and I have arthritis in my ankle, wrists and spine. If I don’t qualify there’s no hope! My physiotherapist suggested I’m a great candidate for it. I’ve lost 100 lbs years ago through diet and increasing exercise however have gained 75 % of that back. I could really use assistance and am hoping this is a great start to getting my mojo for weight loss back. I’m trying an email to Ask My Gp tomorrow. If anyone has gone through the GP pathway I’d love to hear any feedback.

Happy Bank Holiday ❤️‼️

Hi and welcome @*Suzy*

What medication are you on for your diabetes?

I think you may be more likely to be prescribed it on the NHS for your diabetes management than for weight loss so you might be best contacting whoever supports you with your diabetes management and does your annual review? Some places have a practice nurse who fills that role and may be referred to as the Diabetes Nurse and others have a GP and some people attend a specialist diabetes clinic.

No harm in submitting an "Ask My GP" request, but if you have a good supportive relationship with your Diabetes Nurse, then they may be able to advocate for you.

Hi Barbara You made some great points! Thanks for asking forgot to mention the metformin twice daily for Diabetes management. I’ll make sure to include all ailments. If I lose weight I can reverse the diabetes so hopefully they will agree. Thanks again.

Well done keep up the good work and keep us posted its a joy to read your posts

I have a diabetic review tomorrow. I have been told however that you need to be on 3 medications as a diabetic before the NHS will provide mounjaro. I've looked into it online and have done a questionnaire but unfortunatley I am not a good candidate for Mounjaro as I have a gallstone. I've been living with the stone for 30 years so I'm not axious to remove it as it's not caused me problems. Thanks all.
