Mounjaro Monday - Week 12 update

Hello.

I’ve got the hump this week thanks to a random weight gain/stall.

Goodness knows what is going on, but I had dropped a couple of pounds mid-week. But as soon as it had dropped, it was back on again. Absolutely no reason for it - the only thing I can ascribe it to is water retention - but that is a guess . I’m exactly the same weight as I was last Monday - frustrating!

It’s been a funny old week for a few reasons. I was without electricity at home for 24 hours because some joker deliberately cut off my power at the meter outside. I lost a day and a half of annual leave and missed out on my weight lifting class, trying to figure out why I had no power. Someone had gone to the effort of switching off the meter, which is really high up on the wall in the passage between my building and the neighbours. All fixed now, but it threw me out of my routine for a couple of days.

Having said all that, I stuck to my calorie deficit and did plenty of exercise this weekend. A couple of gym sessions and two long walks in the sunshine. So I feel a bit hard done by with the lack of progress. I know it’s just a patience game and it will come off - I just feel like psychologically I need that little boost of a decent loss after a couple of weeks of underwhelming results. Blah.

Mounjaro symptoms have been minimal - just cold the day after. Appetite suppression isn’t particularly strong, but I’m still pretty comfortable on 5mg - I think I did enough work on changing my eating habits before starting Mounjaro that I am not worried that I will suddenly start eating like the old Kate. I think if I have a full month of not really losing I might book in to see if I need to increase the dose, but I am not in any particular hurry to titrate up.

Fitness is going well. Definitely feeling muscle development now and starting to feel some of that ‘mind muscle connection’ when I am working out. Comfortably doing longer walks and I am actually starting to look forward to working out - which is positive.

I think this week I may do a little reading up on the different types of responders to Mounjaro - I suspect I am a ‘hypo-responder’, and I want to see if there are any ways I can improve it’s effectiveness on me.

Other than that, the mission continues and I will push on. I know this is just a bit of a hump I need to get over and I am sure better results are right around the corner.

SW: 23st 2lbs (18/11/24)
CW: 19st 7lbs (31/04/25)
Total lost: 3st 9lbs (51lbs)
Total lost since starting Mounjaro on 13/01/25: 1st 13lbs

Awww.... @Katetype2 I sympathise with your blah week. I think the weight gain is just a temporary blip but agree it wouldn't hurt to discuss upping the dose if necessary.
Well done on keeping up the fitness regime despite the power cut. It's a shame they didn't give themselves a nasty electric shock.
Just look back and see how much progress you have already made in less than 6 months and give yourself a high five. You are doing really well.<3:star:

Hi Katie

Try not to get too upset by a temporary blip with the weight loss, I get weighed monthly and one month I had gained, ironically I had upped my exercise that month. I am sure it will be off again next weigh in.

Sorry to hear that someone turned your electricity off at the meter and the distress it cause you.

Keep going.

How mean to turn your electric off.

As far as weight i have put on 2lbs this week. First gain since July although I have had weeks where no loss. I have been sloppy and eaten too many carbs. My sister and I discussed Easter eggs. Last Easter I didnt know I was diabetic. We both enjoy the ferero roche one. This time I've bought her a different one plus a sachet of chocolates ( I don't want her to try and share) I have chosen for me a Lindt 70% The carbs per 100 gms are more than 30 gms less than the Ferrero. I'm hoping to eat it slower than usual! I need to be careful over next ten days.

I think I've relaxed as my hba1c was 44 in December but some of my finger pricks have been too high. My blood test was just before my birthday and I need to turn the clock back to my behaviour then.

Bet we will both lose next week or maybe stay the same.

You have done so well despite the appalling stress you have had.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a funny old week @Katetype2

Hope you find some ways to improve the effectiveness of Mounjaro. Well done on the fitness!

Hi @Katetype2, looking at your results, I think you have done brilliantly with your weight loss since last year. And remember if you are converting fat to muscle, you may not lose weight but the higher density of muscle means you will definitely looked more toned.
