Hi All,
Firstly I want to thank everyone who commented and liked my last few posts. Big, big apologies that I haven’t got around to replying to everyone. I have been pretty busy over the last week, but I was also a little worried about everyone being sick of me with the volume of posts. I truly do appreciate every single like and comment more than you’ll ever know.
So last week was a week of good news with my various updates - the main one being my Hba1c is now at 41 (previously 60). This week has also been good. I have lost another 0.8lbs - and although that isn’t much, it’s in the right direction and that’s all I care about.
I think the big reason I haven’t lost more is because I have been strength training - including my first ‘Ladies that Lift’ class on Wednesday. Muscles retain water when they are being trained - and I can see this effect taking place on my body composition scales. All part of the process of building new muscles, so I am not at all concerned.
The lifting class went really well. The first class was learning the ropes on the various machines. This week it will be dumbbells and possibly barbells.
I surprised myself with how much I was able to do - I think that using the EGym machines since December paid off. I was even able to do assisted pull-ups, which is something I never imagined I would be able to do. Sure, I used the maximum resistance weight on the machine - but it was still hard and I managed 8 pull ups! There is life in this old dog yet! I’m looking forward to Wednesday’s class.
Not only am I enjoying feeling stronger, but I’m getting more comfortable with longer periods of exercise - particularly walking. It’s been nice weather so I have managed to get out for long park walks. There is nothing I enjoy more than getting amongst the trees and listening to the birds. As good for the mind as it is the body.
I’m enjoying little non-scale victories at the moment. Silly things like the bath towel wrapping around me properly, or fitting more comfortably through turnstiles at the train station. Clothes getting looser. Needing smaller bras. My belly not touching the steering wheel. Walking taller and not waddling. Fitting in a loo cubicle more comfortably. Feeling more comfortable on public transport and like I’m not taking up too much space. Feeling more comfortable taking the stairs. All this stuff is gold to me and makes a little 0.8lb loss absolutely worth the effort.
No symptoms whatsoever from the Mounjaro this week. Not a great amount of appetite suppression either - but enough to manage on. I will stick to the 5mg dose as long as possible. I’ve made no changes to what I am eating now that my blood sugars are where they should be - I am determined to keep it that way.
That’s all for now - but again, big thanks for all the ongoing support. It really does spur me on. Hope you all have a great week x
