Edit: Nice surprise on the scales today (5th Feb) - dropped a few lbs. Weight loss now at 32.1lbs.

Quick update today. All going fine with Mounjaro - now had 4th dose of 2.5mg - will move up to 5mg next week. Experienced some constipation so weight loss is a little delayed. But has come down slightly. Now lost 2st 1.1lbs in total. Been improving at the gym - can feel muscles developing. Pleased enough with general progress.

Tired and cold today - probably to be expected the day after my shot.

Hello, were you prescribed the Mounjaro from your GP or via an online pharmacy? Trying to get it from my GP but apparently in my area they cannot give it to diabetics at all.

Hello. Yes, it was via my GP. Absolutely crazy that it’s a postcode lottery.

Just a thought - as they won’t prescribe locally, could you ask to be referred to a national programme such as Oviva? May be worth you looking in to that.

Hey, I was referred last year for a 12 week consultant lead weight loss course which did absolutely nothing for me but I will ask and see if there are any other referral options. In 4 months Mounjaro has lowered my HBA1C from 74 to 36 and I've lost 38lbs and I feel better than I ever have. Thank you

I am having a similar issue with my GP, he has said that as I am not on insulin jabs, I can't get Mounjaro on prescription, so I am buying it myself which is not cheap, he said there are some GP guidelines for my area online but I cant find them.
Is anyone facing the same issue and is there a way to get it prescribed and not having to take Insulin

The information in this link may give your argument with the GP some weight or mean it would be unlikely.

I don't think it does, but maybe he thinks other oral medication and dietary options have not been fully explored.
Mine said yesterday it's not available in my area (seems to be a postcode lottery) which is ridiculous as it's halved my HBA1C in 4 months, yet I've been on Metformin and Glimepiride for yeeaarrrsss and it's had little effect. Very frustrating.

Could be wrong but I'm guessing that with you self funding and your HbA1c being brought down to what is considered normal levels, they wouldn't prescribe it for you at this point anyway?

No, they know the only reason my HBA1C is 'normal' is because of the Mounjaro. They said in Calderdale there is no funding for it currently. It's like if the Metformin had actually worked, they wouldn't just stop funding the medication because my levels had come down if you get what I mean.

Ahhhhhh gotcha!
Makes sense, fingers crossed for funding. I think my surgery is the same but they're also very keen on lifestyle changes first so they insist on that initially, possibly to save funds.

Mine are too, but I don't as diagnosed almost 9 years ago. They e had plenty of time to try other things, I've done numerous diets, keto, consultant lead diets, referrals etc. Nothing has had much effect. Mounjaro has worked wonders for me. I've had the odd day where I've felt ill but the pros outweigh the cons.

Thanks for the update @Katetype2

Hope the new dose suits you well.

Good luck with jumping through those funding / administrative hoops @rpg-girl86 @walkerl
