Mounjaro- Insulin Sensitivity ✅

Finally!

Diagnosed T2 2021

This year is the first time I can report that my body reacts to Insulin; ever since starting taking Mounjaro!

It may not be a magic bullet, but alongside tightening up and diagnosing -

• I’ve also pretty much stopped drinking alcohol, down from daily, to once a month.

• Self diagnosed Testosterone deficiency and now take daily transcutaneous gel supplements

• Have an hours low impact movement (dog walk) before eating a low carb brunch- difficult as I’ve also OA in my hips- Typically bacon, eggs and tomatoes

• Eat curries/ chillies, casseroles etc with a small amount of brown rice with beans additional to lean chicken or fish as main protein.

• Use and understand my body by using Freestyle Libre CGM

My HbA1C is 7.0% 54mmol/mol and coming down as my last month, has a TIR <10mmol of 83%

So- Mounjaro for me is a real winner and 100% has enabled me to drop my Insulin intake to less than half- with better control = less fat stored - which hopefully will mean I can get my BMI within a level for a hip replacement..:

Hope this helps, happy to comment if any questions

Si

Hi @SiCee
Definitely Mounjaro will affect your need for, and response to insulin, with that in mind be sure you follow the guidance given by your HCP when you started on Mounjaro, regarding lowering your insulin dose as you increase the MJ weekly dose

In my case this time last year, when I started on MJ, I then had a Hba1c of 77 and was at that point taking 12 units of insulin twice daily
MY HbA1c has over the last year reduced to 46 Ive lost a fair bit of weight (23 KG) as per the instructions from my GP as we moved up the strength of MJ, reduced the insulin dose, currently I’m not taking insulin (although unsure at the moment if that’s permanent)

My Insulin sensitivity is/ was horrific- the range of 200u Basal Tresiba and 250u Trurapi per day….

I also take Dapagliflozin, Atvorstatin, Ramipril, Amlodipine and Ezitimibe- plus 100mg Amitriptyline and 1200mg of Gapapentin for Neuropathy… and additional pain meds for OA

It’s the first time, since taking Mounjaro, that the whole ‘picture of treatment’ has set…

Incidentally- you can only be prescribed up to the 5mg dose of Mounjaro on the NHS - for Diabetes - or so I’m told…
