Hello, I have just started insulin and DVLA will be issuing a medical licence. Does this automatically mean that my motor insurance premium will increase? Thanks

You are obliged to notify your insurance but it didn't make any difference to my premiums.

Motor insurers have not been discriminating for a long while. When I was learning to drive and later, this was by agreement between them but some companies didn't agree - I worked in the industry and well remember one company rep offered to quote whose employer apparently didn't concur with it but came back with a reasonable quote 'as a special favour to you Jen' - I said 'Get knotted' - I'm not that hard up for quotes that I need to rely on favours!' and told him what I'd already agreed to pay elsewhere - less.

Anyway later with the introduction of anti discrimination laws, they now legally can't discriminate anyway even if they don't agree with it - ooo what a shame. NOT.

Thanks I hadn't thought about it like that. Rgds. K

As long as you follow the DVLA Guidelines like it was your religion* and hence don't start having multiple accidents at the wheel - why would they be allowed to penalise you? Your postcode and what car you have has much more influence on the price of the insurance cover anyway!

* most likely better to say 'As if your life depended on it.' Because, it does!
