VICTORIA – Premier Robert Ghiz’s surprise announcement in the legislature on Thursday of an insulin pump funding program by the next budget was music to Stacey Hardy’s ears.
Hardy’s daughter, Kolby, 7, is a Type 1 diabetic and has to check her blood sugar levels at several times a day and take insulin injections.
If Kolby had an insulin pump, the machine would automatically check her blood and administer a steady drip of insulin.
