Morning sickness

@Lauren and @Evergreen - woo hoo to the HCL Ypsomed. Utterly different and bloomin' good is my impression 'so far' as a pretty new user since 30th January. What's yours looping with - mine's Libre 3 - but if already using Dexcom which one of the 2 pregnant ladies the same day I started was, our clinic just let them carry on with it except needed a new sensor I think, to pair with the pump so that CAMapp could pair with it.

I'm on the libre 3 too. Have to say the system has been absolutely brilliant so far. I was sceptical before but it's kept me in range very well considering it's day 2, and it's been interesting looking at my data on the phone. My blood went up for 4 hours earlier and viewing the graph made it easy for me to see that this was the time I was socialising and feeling a bit stressed (mums of kids I work with!) so now I can try using the 'boost' next time I'm in a similar situation. I had a graph on my Medtronic but it wasn't anywhere near as easy to use and engage with. Very impressed!

@Evergreen my morning sickness and levels under 5.5 went hand in hand, so mine was not the insulin issue it was keeping my levels up so I wasn't sick, so it didn't start. I never pre bolused under 6. And mine lasted the whole pregnancy, and it was all the time.

Yours doesn't seem linked to low levels, so hopefully you have the usual early pregnancy sickness and it goes.

To avoid it most of my pregnancy all I did I ate and ate and ate, or sugary liquids, they help. And yes sucking on sweets.

Dry foods are good, but I got to the point that I had to think about what I put in, and if it came back up again. Ginger tea is only nice one way, and that's good to not feel sick but its not nice backwards.

One of our granddaughters had 'all day morning sickness' through her entire pregnancy with her first baby and they were concerned about her liver function. Anyway then she went over, so they admitted her and started her off - except her body wasn't ready thanks, so eventually they sent her home - then of course her waters broke and she needed to push pdq and her mum needed to throw her weight about with the hospital to get them to allow her back in!

That sounds tough! Did you manage to keep in the pregnancy range? It’s interesting as I can feel sick at the lower end of the range (have done since before pregnancy), I’ve always wondered for me if it’s due to insulin suspending on my pump.

It’s been a couple weeks and I haven’t been sick! I’m a little nauseous in the morning and the evening, but nothing unmanageable so far! I’m nearly 10 weeks, so I’m keeping everything crossed it won’t get any worse.

I really appreciate everyone’s advice. Having this group is such a great help!

No, but this was 15 years ago and treatment is much improved these days. That was finger pricks and MDI.
And my pregnancy did the opposite of the usual diabetes, I didn’t get insulin resistance I got the opposite. I was on basically no background insulin and my ratio to food was so low that most of the time I didn’t even have insulin for meals by the end. I got down to 4 units of background, as an example I’m on 20-22 now, and my team and I had talked about trying 2 units.
I wouldn’t use my pregnancy as a good example of anything, we had a horrible time and birth. But she’s 14 and perfect.
