This past week, my fasting levels have been quite high in the 8's and 9's. As you all know, I have recently moved house and feeling quite stressed with busy job to cope with too.

Can't say I've been eating anything much different, but my Metformin has been reduced to just 1 a day as my last Hba1c was at 6.2%.

Also in the throws of terrible night sweats which I am putting down to hormones (in the murky depths of peri-menopause) and no, I'm not referring to an ageing crooner:D

What I'm trying to ascertain is this, could my night sweats have something to do with my increased levels in the morning. As soon as I get up and about, my levels are back down to the 5's and 4's by the afternoon.

I suppose you're going to say, just monitor as it could be one of many things, raised hormone levels, stress or could it be that I may have to go back onto a double dose of Metformin again? Boo:(

Its difficult to know certainly both hormonal changes and stress can affect blood sugars. If its only been this week - I think I would give it another week or so to see if things settle. You could try some testing in the night to rule out night time hypos - its unlikely being a type 2 that your night sweats are this but you may want to rule it out, plus having some results in the night you will get an idea of how much of the night your sugar levels are behaving - and it is something that you could show your Dr when trying to work out an approach to tackle things.

Thanks Margie,

I will certainly give this a try. For instance, my usual morning levels have been around 7.2 which I thought was still quite high! Ironical!

It could be the onset of a p, as my hormones and cycle are all out of kilter! If it is, that would explain a lot.

I'm inbetween doctors and haven't been notified of my new one yet. Luckily, my old doctor has been keeping a close eye and noticed the elevated cholesterol levels too. Maybe hormones and stress....happy days!

Donna x🙂
