Afternoon 🙂

I am a newbie to this. My Husband has recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and is on Humulin M3, one before breakfast and one before evening dinner.

He is still recovering from Pancreatitis and sometimes has a little lie in, in which case, he has his Insulin a little later than normal. So usually, he has his morning one around 9.30am then evening aroud 6pm.

If he were to have the morning one a little later, say 11.30am, would he need to have the evening one later? Does there have to be a certain amount of hours in between each injection?

The Diabetic nurse at the hospital really gave us little information.

Thank you all in advance

Wendy xx :(

I have no personal experience with mixed insulin (I use basal/bolus insulin system) but I think the idea is to take it with food, so if he is having his breakfast later then just take it then and have the evening meal injection as normal. I am sure there are some people who use this insulin 3x a day so I don't think having a specific period between them is that important but you should be able to seek advice from his diabetic clinic if you are unsure of how to proceed.
Hopefully someone who uses this type of insulin will be along soon to confirm if I am correct or give better advice if I am mistaken.

Sorry, it's been 40 odd years since I used a mixed insulin!
