More than half tested at roadshow could have diabetes

More than half of people tested for diabetes at a Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow are at risk of developing the disease. The roadshow in Dewsbury, which was jointly run by Diabetes UK and private health company Bupa, saw 230 people undergo preliminary checks for Type 2 diabetes, with 57 per cent being referred to their doctor for further tests and support because of their likelihood of developing the condition.

Those who develop Type 2 diabetes are affected by it for life, although it can be controlled and managed through healthy lifestyle choices.

Wow! I think that may be the first time I've read that in the press - that it can't be 'cured' or 'reversed', but it CAN be well-controlled! Well done Spenborough Guardian! 🙂
