A HEALTH roadshow offered people checks on whether they are at risk of type 2 diabetes amid fears more than 1,000 in St Helens could have the disease and not know it.
Diabetes is one of the most common conditions affecting people in the UK, and 17,000 people across St Helens and Halton have been diagnosed with the illness, according to health figures.
Worryingly, up to 2,000 more people across the two boroughs are believe to be undiagnosed.
The disease is more likely to lead to devastating complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputation if it is not diagnosed early enough or is left untreated.
