I have been having terrible trouble with getting really out of breath and not being able to walk up my garden without getting trouble breathing and my heart will be racing. Last week I had a heart scan, but don't know results yet. This week I will be having a heart monitor fitted for 24 hours. I am so worried as to what they might find, even though I want it sorted out. Has anyone else had this?

Sorry to hear this @spiritfree :(

Hope your tests provide useful information for some effective treatment, sounds like you are having a tough time.

No I haven't had this so no personal experience. However much like a 24hr BP monitor - the sooner everyone finds out that any of us have something not right with us - the sooner we can get it sorted out.

It's clear to you and the forum from your symptoms that you aren't right - and Oh look - the medics agree you're not - so don't fear them discovering how to treat it !

I don't think you'll notice it's there (although it will be odd I expect) cos I don't think they actually do anything noticeable (not like a BP machine pumping an arm up every so often and waking you up) when they're in use - just record your heartbeat in a way that can distinguish normal beat, beat, beat from 'slosh, slosh, beat' etc which isn't.

Anything on the British Heart Foundation website ? - or if not try ringing the hospital and asking to speak to a Cardiac Nurse - they're like DSNs for cardiac conditions - I see one re my PAD and she's good ! I'm sure they'll be able to set your mind at rest.

In the finish I hope it's something really easily treated.

I am having a really hard time I'm scared if they find something and scared that they don't find anything, as I can't go on like this any longer. I am crying all the time, mainly because my husband does not support me through any illnesses I have not even my diabetes.

I thought someone on here had had problems with breathing and they had a shunt fitted. They said they were much better now. But I can't remember who it was.

Hang in there, Spiritfree...you know you've got tons of support here. I hope they can put your mind at ease asap. (((Hugs))).

Hello Spiritfree,
stress is the worst thing of all as is fear of the unknown ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))
It could be anything even a rotten virus making you feel as you do. My landlord who is only 77 used to walk for miles now he can not walk 100 meters without being breathless. I took him to the Drs and he had all the tests ad his heart is fine, they did tell him though if there was a problem with his heart these days it can be fixed 9 times out of 10.

I spent 5 years not being able to walk outside the door and again all heart tests fine. I'm now much improved and can do a lot more including walking my dog, obviously I have had to adjust my way of living as need to rest a lot now as do tire very easily.

((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) and try to de-stress easier said than done I know stressing will make you feel twice as bad. xxx

Hello Spiritfree sorry to hear of your worries but at least you are getting lots of tests to find out the problem of your breathlessness. I was breathless and it gradually got worse over 4 months before I went to see my GP who started off tests but I won't go into that as I finally went private and had an angiogram which showed up my problem so it was followed immediately with an angioplasty as one main vein needed a stent fitting. I am fine now but have to take medication to keep everything ticking over nicely.

Hope all goes well for you.
