Hi Guys

i have been using a SD CodeFree meter for my bloods. Had this for around a year but it’s about 3 years old as it was my dads old one. I replaced it with a GlucosRX Nexus meter and the results were 1.0-1.7 lower than the SD.

i got a free contour next one meter this week and these readings are 0.5-1.2 higher tham the Nexus.

Can anyone offer any advice with which to stick to and continue to use going forward?

I’m type 2 last check my HbA1c was 51.

Thanks In Advance

Hi @Seales18 , welcome to the forum. If you are on meds that can cause hypo’s, then your practice should be prescribing a meter and test strips, but I guess that you are not in such meds.

Essentially the results from the different meters are reading the same , you can actually get similar results to yours from the same drop of blood as blood is not homogeneous.

Meters sold in the uk have to comply to certain standards.
Personally as a self funded I suggest you stick to one that you can afford the ongoing cost of the test strips for.

The SD Codefree has now been updated to this one,
It’s test strips
I hope this helps

Hi

thanks for the reply, I am on slow release metformin 2 a day.

i Will see how I get on with and choose one to stick to, the contour strips and the nexus strips are expensive compared too the sd ones so I may upgrade to their new monitor as I do test myself 3 time’s A day

Sounds like the SD Codefree is reading pretty close to the Contour NeXT, which is generally regarded as one of the most accurate home meters.

I would either stick with the Codefree, or try the Navii based on the results you’ve had and the relative costs of the strips.
